Non Talking zones
One week project/ three member team
During this project we were given a brief, to create a design proposal based on a deep human need.
Our focus was that people in urban spaces tend to avoid each other. For that reason we asked “how can design encourage people in urban spaces to communicate more?”
Our focus was that people in urban spaces tend to avoid each other. For that reason we asked “how can design encourage people in urban spaces to communicate more?”
The result was a series of experiments using typography and sound. We implemented some of them and documented people’s reactions. More specifically, we placed a small talking zone within a disproportionately large “non talking” zone in a metro station, in order to draw peoples attention to that lack of verbal communication in public spaces.
These experiments could be the beginning of more research on social communication.
